Rev’d Canon Andrew Holliday

Andrew Holliday has been the Rector of Standish St Wilfrid since 2011. In September 2012 he was made a Canon of Blackburn Cathedral. Before his ordination in 1992, Andrew had a 9 year career in catering. He has served curacies in Blackpool and Poulton-le-Fylde, his first Incumbency was at St James’ Leyland in 1997 where he was area Dean from 2002 - 2004. In 2004 he was appointed to the Team Ministry of St Peter’s Darwen with St Paul’s Hoddlesden. More recently Andrew has been made Diocesan Warden of Readers looking after supporting the Diocesan Vision for licensed lay ministry and collaborative styles of leadership.

Andrew has been involved in the field of Education since he was Ordained, particularly in the role as a Governor, and has particular experience of appointments, safeguarding and building strong links with the Church and the wider community. Andrew feels privileged to serve as a member of the Board of the ‘Learning Together Trust’.

Andrew is married to Vanessa, who is a Civil Servant, played cricket for Lancashire, coached women’s cricket and now scores locally and nationally. Andrew has interests in cooking, history – especially biographies, visiting the Lake District, and sharing in the glories of the beautiful church of St. Wilfrid.

Mr. Andrew Stokes

Andrew has been a Foundation Governor at St Wilfrid’s for many years, and both his daughters attended the school. He joined the board of Directors when St Wilfrid’s became an academy.

Originally from Rochdale, he has lived in Standish since 1987. For his day job, he works for HMRC as a VAT inspector, based in Manchester. He is also a member of St Wilfrid’s PCC and is Lay Chair of the Chorley Deanery Synod.

He enjoys Holidays (who doesn’t!) and reading, especially on the early train to Manchester.

He is married to Julie and, as mentioned above, has two daughters.

Mr. Ade Oyeyele

Ade is a member of his church council which is one of the two churches with a long historical and close connection with Canon Sharples Primary and Nursery school. He has been a school governor at Canon Sharples since 2010 and during this time has considerably developed his skillset and experience. Currently Ade is the parent of two children at the school and has lived in Whelley within a mile of the school for over 6 years. He currently works as a GP and has previous experience of working within the Wigan area. Ade is delighted to be a Director of the Learning Together Trust, part of a team that desires the very best service for the children and their families.

Mr. Paul Witkiewicz

Since becoming a Governor of St Wilfrid’s Primary Academy in 2012 Paul has served on a number of committees becoming Chair of the Asset (formerly Finance) in 2014. He brings to the role of Director of the Learning Together Trust a wealth of experience from working in Financial Services since 2006 and before this working in the secondary school sector as a Head of Music – he continues to utilise his leadership skills within the music education sector with his work for Trafford Music Service where he has been the conductor of their Youth Philharmonic Orchestra since May 2000. Paul’s love of music has allowed him to share knowledge and experience with staff at St Wilfrid’s as the link Governor for the subject.

Paul attends St Wilfrid’s Parish Church although admits it does get a little tricky during the rugby season as he watches his son play on a Sunday morning but gives back to the church community by helping out on the Parish Hall committee as Treasurer.

When time permits he enjoys baking and playing squash (to burn off the calories from the baking!!)

Daniel Ballard is a practising Christian who worships with his wife near to their home in South Ribble. He is a member of the church choir as well as the ‘Hope in the Future’ working party – looking at ways of increasing community engagement.

Daniel has been a teacher since the year 2000 and has worked in a variety of contexts. He has been the headteacher at St Peter’s in Mawdesley since 2014 and will bring his knowledge and understanding of education in the UK to the Directors’ meetings. In his free time he and his wife like to walk along Northumbrian beaches with Evie, their cocker spaniel.

Jillian Hyde has recently retired having been the Headteacher of Ince CE Primary School and Startwell Centre in Wigan since 1996. Over this period, her school had three outstanding Siam’s inspections. Jillian is a committed Christian, and, being an ex pupil of St Wilfrid’s upholds the Christian ethos and values she learned as a pupil.

Jillian was a Lead Headteacher in Wigan and a mentor to new Headteacher’s. Within this role she conducted school reviews with a view to helping and supporting schools.

She was an active member of the Wigan Safeguarding Children (WSCB) Board for over fifteen years. The Wigan Safeguarding Children Board oversees all organisations in Wigan and Leigh that work with children and young people and have a responsibility for safeguarding them.

Jillian is currently working as an Education Consultant at Kingsbridge and is mentoring associate teachers in Wigan Schools.

Outside of education Jillian enjoys singing in a choir, visiting the Theatre, watching musicals and walking, particularly in Jersey.
