About the Trust

Canon Sharples joined the “Learning Together Trust” in July 2015 forming a highly successful collaborative partnership with St. Wilfrid’s. At their most recent OFSTED inspection in June 2018, the school was judged to be “Good” with Outstanding Early Years Provision.

Canon Sharples is proud to be a Church of England School within a Church of England Trust. At the last SIAMs inspection (November 2016), the distinctiveness and effectiveness of the school as a Church of England school was judged to be Outstanding. They live by their vision;

Trust God. Love Always. Aim High.

School is set in beautiful grounds with Haigh Hall on its doorstep. A recent redevelopment has resulted in engaging outdoor spaces that the children love to explore throughout the day and the inspiring curriculum engages, develops and provides opportunities for the children to innovate and express their learning.

Over the past twelve months, Canon Sharples has secured a number of awards including Arts Mark Award Silver, School Games Award Gold, Ruth Miskin Accreditation, Quality Mark for English and Mathematics as well as the Church School Values Award. At the Wigan and Leigh Education Awards, school was shortlisted in four categories and it was wonderful to see a Year Six pupil win Primary Pupil of the Year! As well as receiving a Highly Commended Certificate in the Inspirational Teaching category, Health and Wellbeing Category and Primary School of the Year.
